35 Years of Branches in Eastern Germany

Part of our success story for 35 years: On September 1, 2025, we celebrate the anniversary of our five branches in Dresden, Leipzig, Erfurt, Magdeburg, and Rostock. Founded in 1990, these locations have developed into important pillars of our customer proximity and operational strength in Germany.
A Look Back from the Dresden Branch

Holger Walzog, Head of the East Region and the Dresden branch, has been part of the journey from the very beginning. His career at Kieback&Peter started on September 3, 1990. Back then, the newly appointed project managers and technicians of the newly established branches met in Berlin. “We all came from the gray East into the colorful Berlin. The warm welcome by the management remains unforgettable”, Walzog recalls. Particularly impressive for him at that time were the company cars provided and the accommodation in a modern hotel.
Today, the Dresden branch has around 40 employees, with numbers steadily growing. “Working in and with building automation is and remains exciting. Every day brings new challenges – that still motivates me today”, says Walzog. Over the years, the team culture has also become firmly established: “We attach great importance to working together harmoniously and expressing appreciation to everyone. During the flood damage recovery efforts in 2002 and 2013, our team truly grew together. We can rely on each other.”
A Telegram to Leipzig

Steffen Pleißner is also one of the colleagues from the very beginning. For him, it all started with a telegram from Berlin: In August 1990, he applied to Kieback&Peter and promptly received an invitation to an interview. That same evening, he was hired. Training began the following week in Berlin, followed by several months of courses at the partner branch in Frankfurt am Main. “We were immediately integrated, had contacts we could speak to at any time. It felt very personal and family-like”, Pleißner recalls.
Today, the Leipzig branch has grown to around 30 employees. Even though the structures have become larger and the technology more complex, the team spirit has remained. Pleißner is still passionate about his work: “Kieback&Peter means a great deal to me. I owe a lot to the company, and vice versa. It’s a give and take, shaped by mutual trust and appreciation. That’s what makes the difference for me – and makes daily work a joy.”
Strategic Milestone with Lasting Impact
The simultaneous founding of the five branches shortly after reunification was a strategic milestone for Kieback&Peter. Jörg Guse, Managing Director Sales & Operations Germany, emphasizes the significance of this decision:

The simultaneous founding of our branches in Rostock, Magdeburg, Leipzig, Dresden, and Erfurt in 1990 was a milestone for Kieback&Peter. It not only strengthened our presence in a region with a special history and great future potential but also laid the foundation for successful and sustainable development. Today, these locations are indispensable for our customer proximity, our operational strength, and our role as a reliable partner for smart building automation in Germany. I am particularly pleased that some colleagues have been on board since day one and are still contributing to our success story with their commitment. My special thanks go to them.
Looking Ahead Together
With this anniversary, Kieback&Peter not only looks back but also ahead. Today, the five branches are important pillars for implementing digital and sustainable solutions in building automation. Holger Walzog sums it up:
“I wish Kieback&Peter another 100 successful years. The K&P spirit drives the company to peak performance – may it continue to thrive for a long time.”
Kieback&Peter thanks all employees, customers, and partners who have helped shape the success story of the five branches. Here’s to the next 35 years!
