Christian Borrmann has a special job and he has been doing it with a great deal of passion at Kieback&Peter since 2015: “It’s impossible to explain what I do in three sentences.” The name of his field of work is system integration. Since May 1, 2022, his main task at the specialist company for smart building automation has been to build up the new IT Business Services department. An exciting topic.

IT in a family environment

Fun at work, fun with the family and fun at his club BVB: If something inspires him, Christian really goes for it. In 2015, the IT specialist came to Kieback&Peter as a system integrator on the recommendation of a colleague. He helped build up the fledgling System Integration department at the Berlin headquarters, where he was able to prove his brilliant IT expertise and soon became head of the team. From the very beginning, he really enjoyed the responsible work that required diving deep and exploring the secrets of information technology for building automation at Kieback&Peter. Yet Christian was also quick to appreciate the family environment at the globally active company: “I am a dedicated family man. When the environment at work has the same positive vibes as I have at home, this makes me happy.” No wonder – after all, Kieback&Peter is a real Berlin family-owned company with a tradition that goes back almost 100 years.

Product ideas derived from concrete needs

In his new position as head of the IT Business Services department, Christian has been responsible for the Kieback&Peter data center since 2022. However, the primary focus of Christian and his team is to support all Kieback&Peter branches with responding to their customers' specific IT questions and developing the most appropriate solution in each case. “Since we work very closely with our customers, and especially with their IT departments, we are very much aware of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead when we try to connect building automation to IT infrastructure.” Christian is thrilled about the fact that this often leads to new product ideas, which are then developed by Kieback&Peter in a customer-specific and scalable manner: “As soon as our technology is integrated with the customer’s IT, we proceed to build the right digital bridges.” Bridges made out of bits and bytes.

Making buildings future-proof through retrofitting

Is IT integration at Kieback&Peter also some kind of occult science with an unclear output? “It’s nothing like that!” Christian explains that his department has created numerous solutions that make a very specific contribution to making the world a better place: “For example, we are able to virtualize our building control technology in the data centers of our customers. This allows them to achieve huge cost savings – especially with regard to hardware resources, electricity and hence CO2.” The digital technologies used by Christian and his team also make it possible to transform outdated building technology, bring it into the digital age in the scope of migration projects and in this way make it future-proof – with “retrofitting” being the key concept here.

Non-digital matters at the grill

When Christian isn't talking about his favorite topics such as cloud-based building control technology after work, he devotes himself to his other interests with the same passion: heating up the grill with his family and chatting about completely non-digital topics. But every now and then he also talks about particularly nice experiences at his job, for example from the latest company event of Kieback&Peter. And since he is quite proud of being put in charge of building up the new IT Business Services department, he also sometimes talks about the exciting challenges associated with this task.  When Christian isn't talking about his favorite topics such as cloud-based building control technology after work, he devotes himself to his other interests with the same passion: heating up the grill with his family and chatting about completely non-digital topics.
