As part of the partnership, young fox Fynn Paulicks, an A-youth player for Füchse Berlin, completed an internship at Kieback&Peter. As the main sponsor of Füchse Berlin, the company specifically supports the promotion of young talent and gives young people valuable insights into the working world of a technical company, even beyond handball. For Fynn, the internship is an important step on his way to a professional career. In a short interview, he talks about his experiences, new impressions and a look behind the scenes.

Short interview with Fynn Paulicks

What made you decide to do an internship at Kieback&Peter?

In addition to my sporting career, I deliberately wanted to gain experience in a large technical company. Through the partnership with Füchse Berlin, I came into contact with Kieback&Peter and was given the opportunity to do an internship.

Which departments did you get to know?

During my one-and-a-half-month internship, I had the opportunity to get to know various departments, including IT, accounting, purchasing, human resources and the academy. I also gained insights into the Berlin branch and the office staff. This allowed me to experience many different areas of the company first-hand and gain a comprehensive picture of its processes.

What did you gain from your time with us, both personally and professionally?

I learned a lot, especially in dealing with people, this time in the office rather than on the court. At the same time, I was able to put my theoretical knowledge into practice. This new perspective away from handball has helped me grow both personally and professionally.

An internship is a great way to quickly find out whether your dream job is really right for you and what other talents you have to offer. During an internship at Kieback&Peter, you will gain insights into the day-to-day work of sales engineers, product, software and HR developers.

Was there anything that surprised you or particularly impressed you?

I was particularly surprised by how large and diverse the building automation industry actually is. I hadn't realised before how many different types of buildings use Kieback&Peter products and solutions, including office and administrative buildings, industrial facilities, public institutions, sports arenas and even the Reichstag. This glimpse behind the scenes showed me how relevant and ubiquitous the company's work is.

How did you perceive Kieback&Peter before your internship, and what has changed since then?

Before my internship, I only knew Kieback&Peter as a sponsor; I recognised the logo on our jerseys. During my internship, I realised what was really behind it all: I saw how exciting the work is and how much organisation, technology and teamwork are needed to make such a large company function. That completely changed my perspective.

Have you noticed any parallels between handball and working in a company?

Yes, I quickly noticed the parallels. In both handball and at Kieback&Peter, youth development plays a central role. Young people are given the opportunity to prove themselves – whether through an internship, a trainee programme or other development paths. Similar to the Füchse, the aim is to challenge talented individuals in a targeted manner and help them progress step by step. This trust and continuous support are crucial for personal development and long-term success in both worlds.

Do you already have an idea of what your professional future might look like?

My big dream is to become a professional handball player. That's my sole focus at the moment. I want to take things step by step and see what happens after that. However, the internship has shown me how important it is to think about your professional future outside of sport.

We wish Fynn all the best and every success in his dream of becoming a professional handball player and in all his other endeavours!
